Rob Van Dam was born in Michigan on December 18 1970. His real name is Rob Szatkowski. Like most dream jobs it’s never really what you know, it’s all about who you know. Luckily Rob knew a friend who helped him on his way to his wrestling dream. He went to a training facility and learned the basics of wrestling and also received fantastic advice that would help his later career.
Rob was also very skilled in kick boxing. With his fabulous strength and fierce athletic ability he managed to turn his body into a massive powerhouse. Rob was able to fend off all different size opponents. He had a great love for martial arts but he had to make a choice of what he preferred. There was no doubt that it was wrestling that curved his appetite.
Most of Rob’s experience came from the early 1990’s. It was then when he really developed and became an independent fighter. It was during this time that Rob would change his name to Rob Van Dam, and also when he would fight Sabu, one of the deadliest wrestlers of the time. He and Sabu would later join together as one of the greatest tag teams of all time.
