The film begins with Nancy Thompson, a young citizen of Springwood who lives on Elm Street. She is having recurring nightmares. She learns that her high school friends are experiencing the same frightening dreams. However, it soon becomes more than just a nightmare when her friends are systematically being butchered in their sleep by the monster who proves to be more than just a dream. Receiving no aid from the police, she decides to take matters into her own hands and wages her own battle with the Frightening killer - Freddy Krueger. Nancy learns more than she bargained for, when she discovers that Freddy was a real person who murdered children in her town when she was a child. After being burned alive by the townspeople he vowed revenge on them all.
