MR MAGOO
One of the most popular and successful cartoons of its time.
Mr. Magoo was first created in 1949, and he appeared on one of the short spots in UPA’s “Ragtime Bear”. Mr. Magoo is an old and grumpy cartoon character that became a huge success. He was established because the producers began to become tired and bored of funny little animal cartoon characters, and wanted to try something a little more realistic and humorous; thus Mr. Magoo was born, and it was not long before he stared in a variety of films, as well as TV commercials, specials and series.
The story of Mr. Magoo began with Magoo vacationing with Waldo, his nephew. Waldo is wearing an animal-fur coat and eventually becomes distanced from Mr. Magoo and loses his banjo, which is picked up by the local grizzly bear. Due to his nearsightedness, Mr. Magoo has mistaken the grizzly bear for Waldo and then the comedy ensues.
Mr. Magoo had such a huge success with the public that it was nominated for 4 different academy awards; two of the awards it won. Mr. Magoo continued to progress and was later picked up by Disney. In the late 1990’s it was even turned into a live action movie. Today Mr. Magoo can still be seen, and is often celebrated in the hearts of all fans.
You can celebrate your pride for this grumpy old man by owning a Mr. Magoo t-shirt. It’s a comfortable way for you to remember one of the best cartoon characters to ever be created.
