U2
Put away the boy bands, the man band is back! It was truly a beautiful day for U2 at the recent 43rd annual Grammy Awards when they bagged three major categories; Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group, all for "Beautiful Day" from the band’s All That You Can’t Leave Behind album. "It’s a very unique emotion I’m feeling right now. I think it’s called humility," voiced Bono, who added that fellow nominee Macy Gray and others should share in the band’s award. "I’m completely not used to it." U2’s fans know that there is no reason for Bono and the band to feel humble now, this is one of the greatest albums put out by the Irish crew and the first since 1997. The band has endured beyond rock and roll norms. Bono explained, "There’s a certain contour to bands’ careers that people expect to see you do your best work early on and then you burn out. Maybe we’re just lucky, but it doesn’t feel like we’ve started to burn out yet." The Edge added that the secret to their success was that, "The band that plays together, stays together." Luck of the Irish or not, this is a most welcome return from one of rock’s truly great bands. All that you can’t leave behind, find it here now. |
